A: Use a combination of common sense, recommended feeding instructions, and your dog's appearance. Generally, the recommended amount for your dog's age/weight category on the food bag is a good starting point/reference guide. You should be able to feel your GSP's or DK's ribs easily when you run your hands along his/her side, but not be able to see the ribs, backbone, or hipbones visible.
