| Q8: What's the deal with these black and black and white GSP's? Can they be registered? Isn't that color considered a fault? A: Although fairly rare here in the US, black and black and white GSP's are fairly common in the country of breed origin (Germany), as well as in other countries (Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Mexico, Finland, Sweden, etc. . .) Black and white GSP's are recognized and registerable with the American Kennel Club, and can be tested in Hunt Tests, Field Trials, Tracking Tests, etc. The only thing you can't do with your black GSP in the US is show him or her in AKC-sanctioned shows. Black and black and white GSP's are, however, recognized by the FCI in their standard, and are allowed to be shown in every other country that registers GSP's. Here in the US, you can show them in FCI International Shows, if you would like, and you can always show in Mexico and Canada, as well. CLOSE THIS WINDOW TO RETURN TO THE FAQs PAGE. |
