Covey Run's Axel
Scandinavian form of Absalom, which is from the Hebrew name Abshalom (contracted from Abishalom) which meant "my father is peace". In the Old Testament he was a son of King David who led a revolt against his father. While fleeing he got his hair caught in a tree and was killed by Joab. This pup is named for his father, as well as his mother's breeder in Germany.

Covey Run's Adam
English, French, German, Polish, Russian, Romanian, Biblical. This is the Hebrew word for "man". It could be ultimately derived from Hebrew adam meaning "to be red", referring to the ruddy colour of human skin, or from Assyrian adamu meaning "to make". According to Genesis in the Old Testament Adam was created from the earth by God (there is a word play on Hebrew adamah "earth"). He and Eve are purported to be the first humans, living happily in the Garden of Eden until Adam ate a forbidden fruit given to him by Eve. Good name for a first-born pup.

Means either "ruler of all" or "noble ruler" from the Germanic element ala "all" or adal "noble" combined with ric "ruler, power". This was the name of a king of the Visigoths who sacked Rome in the 5th century. Perfect name for a son of "Queen".

Greek Mythology. Perhaps from either Greek are "bane, ruin" or arsen "male". Ares was the blood-thirsty god of war in Greek mythology. Great name for a hunter.
ADEL (a-DEL) (female) ABIGAIL (female) ANNIKA (female) ASTRID (female)

Originally a short form of names beginning with the Germanic element adal meaning "noble". Saint Adela was a 7th-century Frankish princess who founded a monastery at Pfazel in France. This name was also borne by a daughter of William the Conqueror. Perfect name for "Queen's" daughter.

English, German, Biblical. From the Hebrew name Abigayil meaning "my father is joy". This was the name of a wife of king David in the Old Testament, and in this case, is the name of a daughter of a "Queen".

Dutch, Swedish, German, Finnish. Pet form of Anna, which is the Latinate form of Hannah. It was borne by an 18th-century empress of Russia. This is also the name of the main character in Tolstoy's 'Anna Karenina', a woman forced to chose between her son and her lover. From the Hebrew name Channah which meant "favour" or "grace". Hannah was the mother of Samuel the prophet in the Old Testament.

Scandinavian. Modern form of Astrithr, which is derived from the Old Norse elements áss "god" and fríðr "beautiful".. This name was borne by the Swedish writer Astrid Lindgren, the author of 'Pippi Longstocking'.
