We have chosen Bojar z Boleskavsk é
Písčiny
as the stud of the
"B" litter vom Covey
Run, which is due 8/8/04. Bojar is a young male (2 years
old), but has already completed his
mandatory breed-certification testing,
as well as some optional tests. He has
received Prize I's in all of his tests,
including the the master-level utility
test with a Prize I at the age of only
16 months. Additionally, Bojar has been
trained as a "Tortverbeller", which
means he is able to follow an aged blood
trail to a dead deer, and sit at it,
baying, until his handler reaches
him--for at least ten minutes. Only two
DK's in North America currently hold a
title for this accomplishment.
Bojar will be tested in the
NAKP test (NORTH
AMERICAN KURZHAAR PRUFUNG). The first
annual North American Kurzhaar Prüfung
will be held on October 1-3, 2004, in
White Hall, Michigan. The test will use
the existing IKP regulations for
evaluation. To qualify a dog must have a
Prize 1 in the Derby, a Prize 1 in
either a Solms, AZP or VGP, and have a
conformation rating of SG or better.
Bojar is owned by our friend
Scott Sorenson of
vom
Adlerberg DK Kennels.
There are several photos of this dog
for you to review in the right-hand
column. Two of them show him pointing,
and two others pictures him baying at a
deer hide during training for the
above-mentioned "tortverbeller"
exercise. Click on any of the photos at
the right to enlarge them. . . .

*Need help
translating those Czech tests or test
scores? Here's a brief explanation of
each*
Zkousky vloh (ZV) -
Trial of inborn qualities (natural
abilities). This is the equivalent of
the DKV DerbyTest . This test will
evaluate a dog's inborn qualities
without having been influenced by any
higher degree of training.
Podzimni zkousky (PZ) -
Autumn trials. Equivalent of the DKV
Solms/AZP test. The dog is qualified
for work on small game (birds and
hares etc.) after completion of this
test.
Lesni zkousky (LZ) -
Forest trials. The dog is qualified
for tracking down game on forest
grounds after this test. This test
includes testing of bringing a fox
over an obstacle, stalking with
leaving the dog behind, tracking down
wounded deer, tracking and bringing a
fox or hare to a distant place in the
forest, driving out game from
thickets, scenting, calmness in front
of game, behavior during and after the
shot, on-leash course work, and
obedience.
Specialni zkousky z vodni prace
(VP)- Special water trials. In
this test, the dog must prove a higher
degree of training by exhibiting
willingness to work in deep water,
bringing ducks from deep water,
driving out ducks from reeds, tracking
wounded ducks in reeds, obedience,
behavior and calmness on point and in
a duck stand.
Vsestranne zkousky (VZ)-General
all round trials. The dog is tested in
its degree of usability in general
hunting practice. The dog must have
already passed the PZ and LZ and prove
that it can be used for all hunting
surfaces. Tested are field work, water
work and on the next day, forest work.
This is considered the master level
utility test, and is the equivalent of
the DKV VGP test.
